THE PROJECT:

Nirvana Spa is England’s largest and an award-winning health spa. With international celebrities including Robbie Williams and Kylie Minogue regularly refreshing their senses in one of the six pure, natural, spring-fed pools, the facilities at this exclusive health spa need to look perfect at all times, and the most stringent safety standards are also maintained for the comfort and security of clients and staff. A special sealer was needed to maintain the look and slip resistance standards, and make cleaning easier. STAIN-PROOF^® Premium Impregnating Sealer, formerly known as STAIN-PROOF Original™, was able to fulfill the spa’s exceptional standards and detailed list of requirements.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• To ensure the highest safety standards for the clientele and staff, the sealer had to be able to provide premium protection without affecting the slip resistance of the surface when wet. 
• Anti-slip treatments make the surface of the stone rougher and more porous, so it becomes even more prone to staining and harder to clean. The sealer was required to prevent oil and water-based liquids from entering the roughened surface, and making cleaning easier.
• The protection had to withstand the spa’s stringent cleaning regime while also having an extended lifespan. 
• The sealer had to preserve the fresh look of the red brick.

THE STAIN-PROOF^® SOLUTION:

STAIN-PROOF’s world leading, invisible impregnator, Premium Impregnating Sealer, was the only sealer able to comply with Nirvana Spa’s stringent quality and safety specifications.  

Premium Impregnating Sealer’s specially engineered molecules penetrate much deeper and bonds permanently by chemical reaction inside the material, which creates a deep liquid repellent barrier. Because Premium Impregnating Sealer works from inside the pores of the material and does not form a coating, the slip resistance and the look of the surface are not affected. (Independent slip testing results from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) are available on the STAIN-PROOF website).

In addition to surface staining, the deep protective ‘dry’ barrier formed by Premium Impregnating Sealer is able to protect against more serious types of damage caused by ingress of liquids which other sealers can’t, including salt efflorescence, water damage and alkali silica reaction. Because Premium Impregnating Sealer bonds permanently it is not affected by commercial cleaning techniques and is backed by a written 15 year performance warranty when applied by an Accredited Applicator. It also means Nirvana will not have interrupt operations to reseal every couple of years as needs to be done with other impregnators. The spa’s surfaces were sealed with two coats of Premium Impregnating Sealer by Accredited Applicator Really Safe Flooring, who specializes in sealing, restoration and slip resistance treatments of porous surfaces.
